Drumurnie is a cosy, one storey cottage situated in the small village of Tomintoul within the Cairngorm National Park. The cottage is the ideal base for exploring the glorious views and countryside of the Scottish Highlands. Drumurnie can accommodate a small family or 4 adults.
Tomintoul is the highest village in the Highlands. It boasts 3 small hotels, a well-stocked village store and post office, 2 craft/gift shops AND the Famous Whisky Castle which stocks over 600 malt whiskies. The Clockhouse Restaurant provides fine Scottish cuisine focusing on locally sourced produce. All these amenities are literally 5 minutes’ walk from Drumurnie Holiday Cottage.
Drumurnie Cottage is an ideal base for the family to explore all the things there are to do in and around Tomintoul.
The house has a small garden to the front of the house with a garden seat so you can sit and enjoy the sun (when it's out!). There is a slightly larger garden at the back of the house with a picnic table so you can enjoy alfresco dining. There is also a clothes line for use in the back garden. Gate leading from the garden at the back of the house to the back road where you can see the friendly ponies. About two hundred yards down the back road you will come to Tomintoul outdoor bowling green.
Drumurnie is hosted by Carol who was born at home in Tomintoul in the middle of a snow storm!! Having lived in the area all her life she is well placed to point you in the direction of all the marvellous places of interest, be it hill walking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, ski-ing or simply sightseeing. Her speciality is whisky, having worked as a tour guide at a few of the famous distilleries in Speyside. She lives round the corner from Drumurnie with her husband and 2 grown up sons, so is on hand should any emergencies arise or simply if you require a personal greeting.
